1. Agreement
By using unicodebamini.com (the “site”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. These terms apply to every visitor, whether or not you use the converter.
2. What the service is
The site provides free browser-based tools that convert Tamil text between Unicode and legacy font encodings such as Bamini and Vanavil, together with reference pages about those encodings. All conversion happens locally in your browser; the site has no user accounts and stores no converted text.
3. Free of charge
The tools are free and have no usage limit. The site is funded by advertising served by third parties (see Privacy Policy). We may add, change or remove features at any time, and we do not guarantee that any particular page or encoding will remain available.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the site in a way that breaks applicable law or the rights of others;
- attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or place unreasonable load on it;
- scrape the site at volume or republish its explanatory content as your own;
- use the output to misrepresent a document's origin, or to infringe anyone's copyright.
5. Accuracy and no warranty
Legacy encodings are imperfect by nature. Different versions of the same font can use different codes, a few Tamil clusters have no dedicated key, and mixed English–Tamil text can be ambiguous when converting back. The engine is checked by a self-test suite that runs at build time, but the output is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
Always proofread converted text before publishing it, printing it, or relying on it for anything official, legal or financial. Nothing produced by this site should be treated as a certified transliteration.
6. Intellectual property
The site's own text, layout and code are the property of the site operator, except where stated otherwise. The conversion tables are derived from the Open-Tamil project, which is distributed under the MIT licence; that licence and attribution are preserved in the source data.
Bamini, Vanavil, Noto and other font names are trademarks of their respective owners. This site is not affiliated with them and cannot grant you a licence to use a font. Font files offered on the download page come from public archives without an explicit redistribution licence and are provided for personal and educational use; commercial use is your responsibility to clear. Rights holders may request removal through the contact page.
7. Third-party links
Some pages link to external websites, including font download pages, advertising networks and open-source projects. Those sites are not under our control: their content, accuracy, availability, licences and privacy practices are their own responsibility. Following an external link is at your own risk.
8. Advertising
The site is funded by advertising. Adsterra delivers the ads you see at present; Google AdSense may be added later as a second network. Adverts are selected by those networks, not by us, and their appearance on the site is not an endorsement of the product or service advertised. Ads run on every page; the cookie notice on your first visit explains what the ad and analytics partners store and records your acceptance, and the “Cookie notice” link in the footer reopens it. Cookies and data used for advertising are described in the Privacy Policy, including how to opt out of personalised ads.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, including lost data, lost profits, or documents that render incorrectly after conversion. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to zero.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing affects mandatory consumer rights you may have in your country of residence.
10. Changes and availability
These terms may be updated as the site evolves; the date at the top of this page shows the current version. The site is provided on an “as available” basis and may be unavailable during maintenance, outages at our CDN provider, or for reasons outside our control.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the site operator's place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force.
