What to include in a bug report
The faster a report can be reproduced, the faster it can be fixed. Please include:
- the direction and encoding, for example “Unicode → Bamini” or “Vanavil → Unicode”;
- a short sample of the exact text, and what you expected instead;
- the application you pasted into (Word, PageMaker, CorelDRAW, a website) and its version;
- your browser and operating system, if the problem is on this site;
- a screenshot if the text renders incorrectly rather than converts incorrectly.
Please keep samples short. Do not send documents you would not want a stranger to read: email is not encrypted and is not covered by the no-upload guarantee that applies to the converter itself.
What we can help with
- a character or cluster that converts to the wrong legacy code;
- text that converts but renders as boxes or blanks in a specific application;
- a broken link, a page that fails to load, or a layout problem on mobile;
- accessibility problems with keyboard navigation, focus or contrast;
- privacy requests about the limited data described in the Privacy Policy.
What we cannot help with
- Font licensing. Bamini and Vanavil are third-party fonts. We can point you to the files (the font download page hosts the variants that circulate in public archives, for personal and educational use), but we cannot grant permission to use them, and we do not support the fonts themselves — install steps and troubleshooting are on that page.
- Translation. The converter changes the encoding of Tamil text; it does not translate between Tamil and other languages.
- Recovering lost files. Nothing you type into the converter is transmitted, so there is no copy here that could be restored.
- Desktop publishing support beyond the steps documented on this site.
Before you write
Two common reports are already answered on the site. If the converted output looks like
jkpo; instead of தமிழ், the text is correct and only
the font needs to be set. If you see empty boxes, the text is already Unicode and needs a
Unicode Tamil font such as Noto Sans Tamil. Both cases are explained on the
Unicode to Bamini page.
